Rwanda Visa Fees

The Rwanda visa fees is currently US $ 50.00 and valid for a period of up to 30 days. All Nationals shall receive an entry visa and pay for your Rwanda visa fees upon arrival at any Rwandan entry point without prior application.

EAC Partner State citizens are issued with a six month visitor’s pass (renewable) at entry points with no fee. DRC citizens will receive a visitor’s visa for a stay not exceeding 90 days with no fee, as per the CEPGL agreement.

Nationals of Hong Kong are exempt from entry/tourism visa for a stay of up to 90 days.The East Africa Tourist visa costs US$ 100.00 (cost is subject to change without prior notification) and is valid for multiple entries into Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. Movement is permitted between these three countries with a single visa and the visa can be issued by any one of these three countries either at foreign missions or upon arrival. With the first point of entry being the issuing country (e.g. if the application is through The Consulate Of Kenya, then Kenya should be the first destination of arrival into East Africa on said visa. However, should guests apply for this East Africa Tourist Visa and enter into Tanzania or any other country which is not a signatory of this visa, then said visa will no longer be valid for use to regain entry into either Kenya, Uganda or Rwanda.

Nationals of African countries not exempt from visa fee can receive an entry visa at Rwandan entry points (Kigali International Airport and all land borders).

All travelers to Rwanda, regardless of nationality, will be able to apply for a 30-day visa on arrival without prior application.

Letters man be requested online at www.migration.gov.rw and used to obtain a visa at any official point of entry into Rwanda. Visitors are required to email an invitation letter (as applicable) reflecting the details of their hosts in the country.

While Rwandans with dual nationality are now permitted to use National IDs on entry. Further to this, on a reciprocal basis and with immediate effect, the country will grant 90-day visas, free of charge, to Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Haiti, Senegal, Seychelles and Sao Tomé and Principe. This is in addition to the Democratic Republic of Congo, East Africa Member Community Partner States, Mauritius, Philippines and Singapore.

Rwanda has introduced a visa waiver for some diplomatic and service passport holders which will be effective immediately. The countries being Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea, India, Israel, Morocco and Turkey. In addition, a 90-day visa on arrival will be available for travelers from the COMESA (The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) region, subject to payment of visa fees.

This development comes at a time when the African Union is encouraging member states to liberalize free movement of citizens across the continent. Rwanda is among the countries that have taken a leading role in implementing the AU’s recommendations.
