Gorilla trekking adventures for Rwanda travelers
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda gives travelers the once-in-a-lifetime chance to watch the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. These Giant Apes live in tightly-knit families and in Volcanoes National Park, there are over 40 gorilla families, 12 of which have been fully habituated for trekking. Throughout the year, thousands of travelers make their way into the 160-square-kilometer Protected Area in the Northwestern part of the country to watch these primates go about their daily routines of playing, foraging, resting, copulating, and other human-like behavior.
When to trek mountain gorillas?
Take advantage of the existing trekking permit promotional fees and book your experience today. While mountain gorillas can be visited all year round, the dry months- June to September and December to February are the best months because lower precipitation levels are experienced hence making hiking trails drier and less muddy/slippery. However, Volcanoes National Park mainly experiences an Equatorial climate, which means that the chances of receiving rain during dry months are as high as it is during wet months hence important to always be prepared.
