Do I need a visa to enter Rwanda? Yes, travellers and tourists are required to obtain a Visa to enter Rwanda. It is a requirement to all nationals which are not a citizen of East African Community Member States (Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania and South Sudan) shall be issued a pass/entry visa free of charge upon arrival to stay for the period of six months. Nationals of Australia, Germany, Sweden, the UK and the USA can purchase a visa on arrival. All other nationals not mentioned above must obtain a visa in advance.

E-Visa
Rwanda launched an E-Visa for travelers on January 1, 2018. E-visa is valid for a Single Entry for a period not exceeding 30 days Per Entry and is processed within three working days. The E-Visa system allows citizens to obtain entry-exit tourist visas to and from Rwanda.
Transit Visa
Transit visas are valid for 72 hours.
Sufficient Funds
All visa applicants must be able to show proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay for authorities to grant them a Visa to enter Rwanda.
Extension of stay
If you wish to extend your visa, you must apply to the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration in Kigali before your current visa expires. You are given a period of grace whereby you can leave the country up to five days after your visa expires without penalty. Beyond five days, you risk paying a fine and being refused a further visa.
Travellers who are also visiting Kenya and Uganda may find it more useful and saving to apply for an East Africa cross-border joint visa which allows entry into all three countries on a single visa at fee of US $100 and allows a 90-days multiple entry to Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya. Whereas a single entry tourist visa costs US $50 (exclusions apply for select countries and is valid for 30 days. A single entry conference visa costs US $30 and is valid for 30 days. A multiple entry business visa costs US $50 and is valid for one year. The process of Rwandan visa takes three working days.

Travellers require a yellow fever vaccination certificate if they are coming from yellow fever endemic countries or countries with active yellow fever transmission outbreaks.
