Rhino in Akagera National Park
Day 1: Kigali –Akagera National Park-Kigali
06h00: You will be picked up from your Hotel and proceed to Akagera national park.
Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will have a briefing at the park Headquarters collect your lunch boxes at Akagera Game Lodge. You will embark on a game drive viewing enroute to Lake Ihema. Lining the lakes are some of the continent’s densest concentrations of water birds, while the connecting marshes are the haunt of the endangered and exquisite papyrus Gonolek, and the bizarre shoebill stork – the latter perhaps the most eagerly sought of all African birds.
The game drive in Akagera National Park provides you with the opportunity to see the newly re-introduced king of the jungle (Lions) as well as viewing gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. You will visit the hippo pool, Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero. 17h30: You will then exit the park and have a leisurely drive back to KIGALI.

Day 2: Kigali –Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast at 08h00, pick up from your hotel, you will be briefed and introduced to your driver guide. You will then proceed on a city tour of Kigali visiting The Kigali Genocide Memorial Center.
Highlight; Genocide Memorial Center- Kigali: The genocide memorial is included on every city tour and is a must-see. Rwanda’s painful past has haunted the country for years; however, their impressive recovery story has turned them into an inspiration. The genocide memorial acts as a humbling reminder to those present and honors those lost. Audio visual equipment will be provided in English or other languages spoken by clients.
At 11h00, have a leisurely drive to Musanze & VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.
Arrive in the afternoon at 01h30 and check in at the lodge. Have lunch. Afternoon you will visit the Iby’ Iwacu village for a cultural experience. While most of the focus of Volcanoes National Park falls squarely onto the animals, this ‘cultural village’ puts the spotlight back onto the people. Visitors get to experience Rwandan village life by grinding seeds, firing bows and arrows, taking part in a traditional intore dance and even partaking in the marriage of a king to his queen. After this amazing experience, you will descend from the mountains. Drive to the lodge for check in and have lunch. Afternoon at leisure relaxing at the lodge.
Dinner and overnight at One & Only Gorillas Nest /Five Volcanoes/Bishops House/Da Vinci Lodge (Meal Plan (Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast)
Day 3: Gorilla Trek VOLCANOES – KIGALI (02h30 drive)
Early breakfast at the lodge then proceed to the park headquarters in time for Gorilla Trek briefing at 07h00. We will then transfer you to the start point of your guided walk that begins at 08h00. Here, your amazing adventure begins.
Track Mountain Gorillas in Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range and is the home of the rare mountain gorilla and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath, but the high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their young. After the memorable experience, you will return to the lodge for your lunch and check out, optional visit to the Karisoke Research Center.
